The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce has partnered with CQI Associates to establish a Commercial Energy Purchasing Cooperative for its members. The GSPACC - CQI Energy Cooperative will help members realize long-term budget stability.

Electric rates consist of the energy itself, capacity charge, transmission charge and various taxes. We just had an auction last Thursday for the capacity costs. The capacity charge is basically a fund set up to help offset costs if a utility company needs to buy energy at a premium to help avoid a brown out or black out. The past couple of years the rate was $26. per megawatt or $0.00026 mil. Starting June 2025, the rate for most areas jumps to $269.92 per megawatt or $0.0269 cents. What this means is for a 12 month contract the previous rate of $.10 per kWh is now going to be $.12. BGE utility jumped to $466.35 which means their rate is jumping from $.10 to $.146. This does not include increases on the regulated distribution side. 
 
The Chamber Energy Purchasing Cooperative increased purchasing power allows members to receive lower rates than they could typically attain on their own. The program provides competitive electric and natural gas rates for your business and your home.

Since 2004, the Cooperative electricity rates have been lower than both market rates and the weighted annual utility standard offer service rates. During our previous campaigns, participants saw an average annual savings of $4,000. Natural gas rates were also lower on average than market rates and utility monthly winter peak indexed rates.

2. Provide one complete copy of your most recent Utility bill(s) for all electricity and or natural  
    gas accounts you are enrolling.
